“The sum of the whole is greater than its individual parts.”
This saying rings true and is at the heart of Seaux Chill’s strong commitment to collaboration, for collaboration opens the door for new relationships to be built and old relationships to strengthen, for magic and inspiration to exist in abundance, for incredible works of art to be produced, and more. Chill loves to carry out collaboration not only with various musicians, artists, and producers, but also with organizations, hence the existence of Seaux Chill Residencies. These residencies are at the intersection of Chill’s deep desire/interests in traveling, meeting and working with new creative people, learning about place through physically experiencing it and hearing stories, and connecting with organizations carrying out impactful work in their communities through art. The programming for each residency is uniquely designed around what is going on in each specific city/organization, but they all have 3 or more of these aspects in common: 1) Learning about the history/context of the neighborhood/city. 2) Organic community building with anyone connected with the organizations in collaboration, including but not limited to the youth, musicians, artists, natives/transplants, and community organizers. 3) Chill shares his knowledge of Jazz/Gospel piano with willing students that span all ages. 4) Creation of place based music and art inspired by the stories and environments Chill is able to interact with during the residency. 5) A culmination show/event that brings together the communities Chill was able to interact with during the residency. Chill has been able to carry out multiple residencies with this blueprint in Indy, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chattanooga, and more. He is always looking to work with new organizations and would love to collaborate with you!
